Bebenhausen’s Beauty

The charming town of Bebenhausen in Germany.

Bebenhausen was a wonderful find on a grey afternoon. We were four girls in a car on a quest for the chocolate factory – the Ritter Sport chocolate factory. But after making a wrong turn somewhere along the way, we ended up on a narrow trail with views of this picturesque village below. We agreed that the chocolate would have to wait a bit longer, and decided to explore this place instead.

Overlooking Bebenhausen

After running through this field re-enacting scenes from the Sound of Music, we wandered into the town and climbed up the steps to the old monastery. Aside from a young couple wandering hand in hand, we were the only ones there.

Bebenhausen's architecture

Like many structures across Europe, the Bebenhausen Monastery was undergoing structural renovations. But though we could not explore the interior of all the buildings, the beautiful exteriors were enough to keep my eyes content.

Sometimes wrong turns pay off and you end up discovering places that aren’t on your to-see list. So next time follow these turns and see where they take you. You might just end up in a quaint village in the Tübingen district of Baden-Württemberg!

I was in Bebenhausen a couple of months ago. I loved the village but was disappointed with the castle – much to modern, it even had a bathroom in it. I still haven’t made it to the Ritter Chocolate Factory, even though I live close by – I need to get on that ASAP.

The chocolate factory is impressive! I never knew chocolate could come in so many different flavours! Mmm… chocolate 😀

  • There is a Ritter Sport factory? I never knew. And I used to live in that area. Pity I never made it there. Guess I have to go back one day 🙂 Ritter Sport is one of my favorite chocolates! That and Milka of course. But I do have to agree, the views on your pictures above is beautiful – even without chocolate.

Wow! It does look like you found a piece of private paradise. I guess it would be worth putting off a chocolate factory for.
