Young in age but wise in travel

This infographic by Club Med takes a look at how young people are travelling longer and further.

While places like Mexico, Malaysia and India used to be the preserve of the most intrepid of explorers, they’ve quickly become fairly standard locations for us backpackers.

The reason? Well, travel has certainly become easier over the last decade or more, but perhaps the biggest reason that young people make the most adventurous travellers is because that’s the way we’ve been brought up.

Young people are increasingly being introduced to travel at an early age. Instead of week-long package deals to Spain, some parents – perhaps because of their own exploratory travels in their youth – are pushing our boundaries at an ever-younger age, introducing us to obscure locations and cuisine.

The urge to travel is becoming engrained in the psyche of the next generation of traveller. And with social media and the internet giving us straightforward, real-time access to information about the most mysterious of travel destinations, it’s just one click on our smartphones and off we go, on yet another adventure.

I won’t mind trying new foods esp. those Thai dishes 😉

This is a great info-graphic and a very interesting idea. I know that I am more adventurous because of my upbringing. I lived in Germany, Turkey, and South Korea growing up and took holidays to Austria, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Mexico. Now as I travel on my own, I know that I am less afraid to venture to places like India and Bangladesh! I haven’t made it to either yet, but I look forward to doing so one day!
