The Cuban Honeymoon + 6 Months of Marriage

by Audrey January 12, 2015

It’s hard to believe, but this month marks six months since Sam and I tied the knot! It has gone by so quickly that I actually forgot to share the few snaps I took during the honeymoon, so our six month anniversary seemed like a good time as any, am I right? So let’s start off with the destination – we ended up in CUBA! I was initially set on Uzbekistan (a little unusual, I know), but in the end it didn’t seem like a very reasonable spot considering we had just come back to Canada after 15 months of galavanting around the […]

Contest: Explore Cuba, Still Definitely Different

by Audrey March 24, 2014

Today’s contest is brought to you by the Cuba Travel Network. Well, this could be the perfect excuse to play an April Fool’s joke on your friends. The Cuba Travel Network has a good sense of humour and they have recently launched a travel contest that could have you and a friend on an all expenses paid trip to Cuba. What are they asking for? by Audrey August 27, 2013

Today’s post comes from no stranger! Colleen has written on my blog before about how much she loves Easter Island, and today she is back to tell us about yet another island that has won her heart – Saba. P.S. Where did you go? I went to Saba, which is part of the Dutch Caribbean. How did you hear about this place? In this very well traveled […]

Havana: Must Every Visit Be Political?

by Audrey November 8, 2012

I once got hate mail for a smiling photo I took in front of the Ministry of Interior Building in La Habana, Cuba. You know, the one in Plaza de la Revolución with the Che Guevara outline on the facade. ‘Anonymous’ questioned how I could be smiling in front of a building that depicted a man responsible for great horrors, or some kind of rant along those lines. Really?! Now a girl can’t smile in her own photo? I felt rather annoyed by this message because my visit was in no way politically motivated. I was smiling because I truly […]

The Time I Went Snorkeling…

by Audrey July 26, 2011

Turquoise waters, great visibility, not a wave in sight. Sounds like the ideal conditions to go snorkelling, right? That describes the day as I dipped into the waters of Varadero, Cuba. The only thing on my mind was my (not so) little fear of water… You see, I’ve nearly drowned in just about every body of water you could think of. Ocean? I was about 5 and I really wanted to go in the ocean. (We were in Rio de Janeiro, so could you blame me?!) I remember feeling scared as I went into the water without a parent, and […]
